🟨 BakerRipley Neighborhood Centers – Veteran Benefits Calculator

Service Area: Workflow Automation & Excel Tools

Challenge:
Veteran Services staff needed a way to calculate financial benefits efficiently. Manual methods were time-consuming, error-prone, and not easily updatable.

Solution:
Built a self-contained Excel tool that:

  • Calculates benefit eligibility based on user inputs (family size, age, income, poverty level)

  • Flags errors in real time for immediate correction

  • Allows non-technical managers to update regulations, categories, and thresholds via a secure backend—no Excel skills required

Result:

Challenge:
EasterSeals Veteran Services lacked an efficient CRM/case management system. Their workflow was fragmented, and leadership needed clarity on whether to adopt a new SAAS platform.

Solution:
Led a full operational assessment, including:

  • Cross-functional collaboration with colleagues and vendors

  • Development of workflow flowcharts and a project charter

  • Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) to evaluate implementation ROI

  • CRM software research and integration feasibility review

National MS Society – Program Impact Assessment

Service Area: Survey Design, Impact Evaluation & Reporting

Challenge:
Leadership needed measurable insights on how programs were affecting clients across 23 cities—but had no framework in place to assess effectiveness.

Solution:

  • Designed a targeted, custom SurveyMonkey assessment for 433 clients

  • Created a detailed Project Charter outlining scope, methodology, and objectives

  • Collected and analyzed data to evaluate service impact

  • Delivered a full findings report and recommendations for process improvement

🟥 LHI & BakerRipley – Self-Updating Dashboards

Service Area: Dashboard Development & Reporting Automation

Challenge:
Manual data tracking was time-consuming, error-prone, and too slow to support timely decision-making for two high-impact programs:

  • LHI’s LGBTQ Health Fair

  • BakerRipley’s Hurricane Harvey Recovery Services

Solution:
Built two dynamic dashboards:

  • LHI: Google Sheets + intake form integration for instant client data updates

  • BakerRipley: Google Data Studio dashboard for disaster recovery tracking

  • Designed both to auto-update in real-time—no manual input required

  • Created interconnected sheets to instantly calculate metrics and provide self-service reporting

Result:
✅ Reduced reporting lag from 3 weeks to instant access
✅ Minimized data entry errors

🟥 BakerRipley – Hurricane Harvey Recovery Reporting System

Service Area: Advanced Reporting Systems & Disaster Response

Challenge:
Following Hurricane Harvey—wettest and 2nd costliest storm in U.S. history—BakerRipley needed a comprehensive, accurate reporting system to manage services, track recovery progress, and satisfy multi-agency funder requirements.

Solution:
Built a 64-tab Excel-based reporting system from scratch that:

  • Aggregated data from multiple platforms (Excel, Smartsheet, Google Sheets, Apricot, CaseWorthy)

  • Used advanced Excel functions: INDEX/MATCH, lookups, conditional formatting, pivot tables, dashboards, and interactive tools

  • Included financial reports, graphical displays, data reconciliation systems, and automated error correction

My Role:
Spearheaded system design and development under high-pressure conditions with full ownership. Translated changing funder and grant requirements into flexible tools. Collaborated across agencies like Red Cross, United Way, and City of Houston to resolve data gaps and ensure accuracy.

Result:
✅ Delivered a powerful platform that supported weekly reporting
✅ Reduced manual tracking errors and improved inter-agency data alignment
✅ Enabled BakerRipley to scale services and reporting in real time
✅ Became the backbone of the organization’s Harvey-related tracking and reporting workflows

🟪 National MS Society – Community Outreach at UTHealth Neuroscience Forum

Service Area: Public Engagement & Strategic Outreach

Challenge:
Represent the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at a major Neuroscience Research Forum hosted by UTHealth, with a focus on concussions and neurodegenerative conditions.

Solution:

  • Served as the sole MS Society representative at the event

  • Prepared materials to educate attendees—including patients, caregivers, physicians, professors, and journalists

  • Provided real-time insights and updates on MS-related services and projects

  • Facilitated dialogue on the potential connection between concussions and MS

Result:
✅ Elevated public awareness of MS and related risks

Challenge:
Many data entry issues in organizations stem from a disconnect between how humans think and how computers process information. These errors—though unintentional—create costly consequences across operations, reporting, and compliance.

Solution:
Developed and delivered a training presentation (150+ slides) specifically for non-data professionals, designed to:

  • Teach participants to "think like a computer"

  • Clarify staff roles in the data flow process

  • Bridge the gap between human input and database logic

  • Prevent unintentional misentries through context-based understanding

Challenge:
The Program Planning and Evaluation Department needed to transition to a new data storage system while restructuring years of disorganized files—without disrupting daily operations.

Solution:
Led the transition project from end to end:

  • Created a detailed strategic plan covering technical and operational impact

  • Coordinated with IT, Compliance, and Program Planning departments to ensure alignment

  • Designed a new file hierarchy and implemented secure file sharing processes

  • Authored clear documentation outlining workflows, privacy guidelines, and delegated responsibilities
